Filler Dissolving for a Thoughtful Fresh Start
Sometimes your priorities change after an injectable treatment, or an area simply no longer looks the way you want it to. Filler dissolving provides an option for reducing certain hyaluronic acid fillers when appropriate, giving you an opportunity to reassess an area with professional guidance and decide what feels right from there.
what is it?
Sometimes the Right Next Step Is to Reassess ✦
Filler dissolving uses hyaluronidase, an enzyme that can break down hyaluronic acid filler. It may be considered when existing filler needs to be reduced because of concerns about volume, placement, appearance, or a change in the client’s aesthetic goals. Not every type of filler can be dissolved this way, which makes an assessment an important part of the process.
The purpose is not to erase a previous treatment without consideration. Your provider needs to understand what product was used, where it was placed, how long ago treatment occurred, and what you would like to change before determining whether dissolving is appropriate.
the process
Understanding Comes Before Making a Change ✦
Look at What Is Already There
We start by examining the treated area and learning about your previous filler experience. Your treatment history, the appearance of the area, and the concerns that brought you in all help shape the conversation.
Determine What Can Actually Be Changed
The type of filler matters. Hyaluronidase works on hyaluronic acid fillers, while other filler materials require different considerations. Your provider can explain what may be possible based on the product and treatment area involved.
Decide What Comes Next
Dissolving is not necessarily the end of the conversation. Once the area has been assessed and treated when appropriate, the next step may be allowing it to settle, reassessing the result, or discussing future options when the time is right.

We’ve Got Answers
Can all dermal fillers be dissolved?
No. Hyaluronidase works on hyaluronic acid fillers, but other types of filler require different considerations. Your provider will assess the product used before determining whether dissolving is appropriate.
Why might someone consider filler dissolving?
Filler dissolving may be considered when an area has more volume than desired, the filler placement is no longer preferred, or your aesthetic goals have changed. An assessment helps determine what can realistically be changed.
What happens during a filler dissolving appointment?
Your provider will first review your treatment history and assess the treated area. If dissolving is appropriate, hyaluronidase is carefully administered based on the existing filler, treatment area, and desired outcome.
What should I expect after filler dissolving?
You will receive guidance on caring for the treated area and what to expect as the filler responds to treatment. Follow-up may be recommended so the area can be reassessed before deciding on further treatment.
Can I get new filler after dissolving?
Future filler may be an option, but it is not necessarily the immediate next step. Your provider can reassess the area after dissolving and discuss whether and when another aesthetic treatment may be appropriate.
